Summary

Luke 2:36–38 - And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, [37] and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. [38] And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. (ESV)

Our God, we are grateful that you have brought Jesus into the world. And as we think back to

in the birth of the Christ child. Give us the right perspective and attitude to understand what it meant

to her and therefore what it might mean for us. We ask in Jesus' name, amen. Okay, friends, as you open your Bibles to the Gospel of Luke

Chapter 2, we're going to be in verses 36 through 38. And this is how it reads. And there was a prophetess,
