Summary

This Christmas, Paranormal Activity takes a darker turn…

Join Yvette Fielding for a chilling festive special as she tells two of the most enduring and unsettling ghost stories ever whispered by candlelight.

Wrapped in winter darkness and steeped in tragedy, these are hauntings that refuse to rest no matter the season.

First, Yvette revisits The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall, one of the most famous photographic ghosts in history.

A sorrowful spirit said to roam the corridors of her Norfolk home, bound by betrayal, punishment, and a death shrouded in secrecy.

What really stalks the halls of Raynham, and why has her presence endured for centuries?

Then, across the snow-laden wilderness of Canada, we enter the grand yet ominous Banff Springs Hotel. Beneath its fairy-tale exterior lie tales of doomed brides, vanished families, and apparitions that appear when the hotel is quiet and the mountains close in.

Guests check in… but some never truly leave.

Perfect for listening by the fire, though you may want to leave a light on.

Hello, my lovely friends and welcome to a very special Christmas edition of paranormal activity.

0:13.0

I'm Yvette Fielding and this week I want you to settle down, dim the lights, gather close to the warmth of whatever fire you can find, and prepare yourselves,

0:22.3

truly, truly prepare yourselves for something a bit darker than the usual seasonal cheer.

0:29.8

Christmas is not all tinsel and laughter. It never has been. Long before mince pies and fairy lights,

0:37.0

winter was feared. It was a time when nights were long

0:41.0

much longer than the days and people huddled together indoors telling stories of the spirits

0:47.1

that crept through the dark stories of the restless dead who could slip through the cracks of our

0:53.7

world when the veil was

0:55.5

at its thinnest. This season, steeped in superstition, was considered the very best time to

1:01.5

encounter something otherworldly. It's true, you know, some of the most chilling hauntings

1:07.6

ever recorded have been witnessed on or around Christmas. And so, in keeping with

1:13.0

that tradition, I have two chilling ghost stories for you. Both real legends, both terrifying

1:19.6

in their own right, two tales of restless energy that have lingered for centuries and still

1:25.7

linger if witnesses are to be believed.

1:28.9

So, sit back, or lean forward, if you must, and let me take you with me.

1:34.2

Imagine we're gathered in an old candlelit room,

1:38.3

just the faintest glow of embers giving shape to the shadows.

1:42.3

Outside the windows, frost clings like skeletal fingers.

1:47.0

And the world seems just quiet enough, just still enough, that perhaps if you listen closely,

1:53.0

you might hear something moving that shouldn't be moving at all.

1:58.0

Tonight's first story is one of England's most famous and most photographed spirits.

2:04.7

Of course, it's the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall.
