Summary

What if one of the most well-known stories in scripture was also one of the most misunderstood? — Most of us can recite the story of the prodigal son from memory. After all it's a parable about how far you and I have turned from God, how we've ran far away and need his forgiveness... isn't it? Or is it possible, that when Jesus was telling this story He meant for us to focus on the Father? His arms stretched wide open as his runaway son returned. His eagerness to welcome him home with a kiss and a celebration. Maybe the story of the Prodigal Son is actually more about the Father who loved him through it all. — This Christmas Eve, Pastor Louie Giglio wants you to know that this isn't just someone else's story; that lost uncle, brother, or daughter. This story is all of ours, and the best part is we have a home and we are most welcome to it.

0:42.0	We know it as the story of the prodigal son.
0:48.0	There was a son who decided there was a better way.
0:52.0	He asked his dad if he could get his share of the inheritance early.
0:57.0	And the father obliged to father divided the estate.
1:01.0	They have to this son and have to the older brother.
1:05.0	So it's yours.
1:07.0	The younger son had all these dreams and plans and he'd been thinking all these days and weeks if I could just get the cash.
1:16.0	And if I could just get in charge and if I could just get out of here, I can live the life.
1:27.0	But as it always turns out, our freedom plans aren't what they're cracked up to be.
1:35.0	Pretty soon that son hit rock bottom.
1:39.0	And the centerpiece of this story comes in verse 20.
1:46.0	And it says about the son so we got up and he went to his father.
1:55.0	But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him.
2:07.0	And the father ran to the son.
2:11.0	He threw his arms around him and he kissed him.
