Now here's a highlight from coast to coast AM on I. on Iheart radio. We're kind of talking about

the lesser known Christmas monsters, maybe that people haven't heard of, but I think people know

about Cranpus now because maybe the movie, but will you explain the Christmas lore of Cranpus,

which sounds terrifying to me? Oh, absolutely. So Cranthus, yes, you are right. Cranpice has become really popular in the last couple years, dare I say, even like, even like since last Christmas. Yeah, I didn't know about it when I was a kid, and I'm glad I did not know about it when I was a kid. That would have been terrifying. I mean, for me,

I probably would have behaved a lot more if I knew about Cranpus. Yeah, so Cranpus is from

Alpine folklore and one could argue that Cranpus even predates Christmas itself. So you have

Cranpus who is kind of like almost like an anti-Santa Claus

type of figure. So, you know, while we had Santa who rewarded the good kids and maybe gave some

cold to the naughty kids, Cranpus is this humanoid goat-like creature.

And so usually how crampus would work is he works alongside Santa Claus.

So Santa and him have, or St. Nicholas.

So they had this good cop, bad cop dynamic happening. And on the night of December 5th, which is known as Crampus knocked uh st nicholas and crampus would go door

to door and uh you know st nicholas would give gifts to the good to the good kids and then

crampus would punish the naughty kids um however the way that he punished kids wasn't giving them

coal actually cole would probably be like the, the nicer, um, the nicer end of it, uh, the nicer

end of it.
