So I think my very favourite Christmas tree that I ever did was with just aliums.

And I'd managed to collect loads and loads through the previous summer.

And I had some of the whoppers, which is Shibiri, or Spider, which can be about 60 centimetres across,

I guess. And then I had lots more of Christofi, which is a middle-sized one, which are about

25 centimetres across, I guess, 20 sometimes. And then really quite a few of the smaller ones.

And much as they're the least showy,

it's actually really nice to have those different sizes. So I was using Purple Sensation and Purple Rain. And with all of them, I dipped them into some silver paints and dried them on newspaper.

And I left them overnight. And then I had my Christmas tree and I just

stood back and I threw the alium heads at the tree and I'd already covered the whole tree

with lights but literally the only decorations were those alliums and because I had the different

size the whoppers the mediums and the smalls, it meant you kind

of had this real sense of three-dimensionality. And it looked like the most sort of wonderful

celebratory chandelier, and yet everything had come from my garden. And I loved it. It just

felt so sustainable and so good. I love that and I think I'm heading

in that direction this year, although I'll tell you, I'm going to add one other thing I think in
