Unfictional is KCRW's program of stories and original documentaries.

It's a part of KCRW's independent producer project,

a laboratory for independent radio producers, writers, and performers.

And today on the program, two storytellers from this past year return to recount their stories

of holidays past.

And not the perfect meal magical moments holiday cheer kind of Christmas

that we all hope for but instead the cold awkward and vaguely disappointing

Christmas that we more often end up with.

9.13 a.m. December 25th.

They say never to give a dog chocolate.

Well, you can add egg nog to that list.

Guess who's cleaning up after Aunt Martha gave the dog a moleful.

It's a handful of coals in the stocking, including a modern version of the Christmas story told entirely through Facebook status updates.

Also, something just crashed into the house on Christmas Eve,

but it's not who you think it is.

Plus Christmas quilts, bad insulation, and drunken 10-year-olds. on a holiday version of KCRW's unfictional.

Last year I hung my stockers by the chimney and old Santa didn't bring me anything.

Well, I rolled a note and I told him what to bring me.

But I didn't even hear his lay bells rain.

So the heck, with old Santa Claus.

When he goes dashing through the snow I hope he falls
