a few programs from our archive, as usual the music's been shortened for rights reasons.

This week's guest is the musician Christine McVeigh, who died in November last year.

My castaway this week is the musician Christine McVeigh, as an essential part of the supergroup

Fleetwood Mac, the singing, songwriting and keyboard playing she contributed to their

sound was ero defining.

You make loving fun, oh daddy, little lies everywhere and songbird at a few of her

most enduring compositions.

But whilst Fleetwood Mac's output represents the ultimate in mid-70s melodic rock, their

backstage behaviour was often less than harmonious, with breakups, booze, drugs and egos making

life in the band.

Well, complex.

Yet through it all, my castaway seemed to steer a relatively straight path, never entirely

getting way to the worst excesses of the rock and roll playbook.

Maybe it was something to do with her background.

Her father was a concert violinist, her grandfather and organist at Westminster Abbey, and her

maiden name is, I kid you not, Christine perfect.

She says of the glory years with Fleetwood Mac, the music was all we lived for.

That was what tied us together.
