Where we left off at the end of Part 1, the investigation had exhausted all leads and eliminated all suspects.

The case stalled for a couple years.

Then, in an early use of Parabon's phenotyping technology, in 2016, Detective Fields started working with Parabon Nanolaps.

Starting in about 2014, Detective Fields had investigated his own heritage on the ancestry website,

and he'd come across Parabon at a law enforcement conference in 2015. He arranged for a sample

of the suspect DNA collected from Christine's body to be sent to Parabon's partner lab,

which extracted 7.56 nanograms of DNA from the swab.

They then sent that sample to a kisogen for genotyping.

The overall call rate was 98.95%, with over 842,000 snips from a single-source male profile.

The phenotype predicted that the suspect was a black male

with very dark skin, dark brown eyes, brown to black hair, and no freckles. He was of primarily

West African descent with about 10% European heritage. Peribon's report validated the 2000s

error report that had stated that the suspect was a black male,

and now they had some idea of what he looked like, thanks to Parabon's Snapchat image.

On October 20th of 2016, the anniversary of Christine's murder,

the Orlando Police Department held a press conference, releasing the phenotype image of the suspect, and requesting tips.

Tina Frankie also addressed the media. She said, quote,

I have mixed emotions when I look at it. I don't know what I'm supposed to feel. He just looks like an average person.

But Tina remained hopeful, saying, quote, I feel like we have a little hope now where before it was

just going nowhere. She went on, my biggest questions are what happened and why? She was a great

person. She rooted for the underdog always. For someone to take her life like that just doesn't
