Sometimes as Christians we need a wake-up call.

I think that I do too, you know, sometimes we really need a wake-up call and that's what Romans 13, this passage is

versus 11 through 14 that we're going to study tonight.

It's a wake-up call to the fact

that my life is not my own and that there's actually as a Christian there's a calling upon my life

that is should be an all-consuming calling upon my life that I haven't just joined a social club as a

believer. I've been given a new life in Christ and there's a there's a calling. There's

like a fruitfulness that God is desiring to see for his glory in my life.

And so this is a beautiful, beautiful passage. So what I want to do is just read it.

This is not like a, you know, you need like a careful logical teaching of this passage although I'm going to do that whether I like it or not because that's how I teach but

But this is really about getting the heart of this into our hearts and so my prayer is that that that would happen that as we study this passage, we would get the heart of this

that the Holy Spirit intended for us to get

from this passage, get it into our hearts

because we really need it.

It says here in verse 11 of Romans 13 and do this knowing the time that now it is high time to awake out of sleep

for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand, therefore let us cast off the works of darkness

and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly

as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision

for the flesh to fulfill its lest.

And so you immediately get like, wow, this is like,
