thanks for joining me. Today I'm wrapping up our Christian Liberty series and we're looking at an

area that affects every single one of us. It is money or maybe you want to just call it

possessions. I would refer to this as buying or spending and it's one of the most common

questions I get asked about as a pastor

and online. Questions like, is it a sin to buy a new car? Is it a sin to live in a beautiful home?

Is it a sin to be wealthy or a millionaire or a millionaire or a billionaire? Is it a sin for me to

own a second home, a beach house, a cabin, or to buy the top model of something, if you like to

golf, if you buy a purse, if you get a pair of shoes. Are you more spiritual because you got

those at the rack or at coals or what if you paid full price for something? Important questions,

very common ones. But underneath all those questions, it's the real one. When does buying

something become sinful? I think that's what you're asking. Certainly what I would want to be

asking. Well, we need to understand what the Bible says about money. And so first, money is not a sin.

Possessions are not a sin. Nice things are not a sin. Wealth in and of itself is not a sin.

Wealth is a responsibility. We want to use it. And wealth doesn't just refer to being rich or having a high net worth.

Wealth is any measure of possession or provision that God has given you. It's something that God gives. It is also something God

governs. It is not inherently evil. We can't call money evil. It's love of money. That's what Paul

emphasizes in 1 Timothy 6, where he's talking about that the love of money and the balance of

possessions and looking at these things properly, if you're

wealthier, you have a lot, you're not to trust in riches, you're not to obsess over riches.
