These are people who once claimed to follow Christ, but who now have walked away from the

standards, the structure, and the spiritual authority of the evangelical churches that

they were once part of, and in many cases, they've renounced their Christian faith.

While this seems to be a new development in the church, really it's as old as the

first century as you'll see today.
