Let's start with the definition of natural law. What is it?

Well, a couple of ways you could define it. Philosophically, you could say it's the idea that there's a real moral order built into the structure of reality,

and that human beings can, through reflection, rational reflection, can recognize it even without a book like the Bible.

The way Paul puts it, and there are, I should say as an aside, there's

kind of competing definitions and traditions of natural law. The way Christians would define it is

how Paul puts it in Romans chapter 2 when he writes that the Gentiles who do not have the law,

by nature do what the law requires. They are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law, by nature, do what the law requires.

They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts,
