Galatians chapter 3 verses 10 through 14 for all who rely on works of the law are under

a curse for it is written.

Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written

in the book of the law and do them.

Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law,

for he through faith is righteous shall live.

But the law does not rest on faith, for he who does them shall live by them.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us,

for it is written.

Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree.

That in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles,

that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith.

When Paul says in verse 10 that all who rely on works of the law are under a curse, he

recalls for us that same idea from chapter 1 verses 7 and 8, where he said,

there are some who trouble you and want to pervert

the Gospel of Christ.

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel

contrary to that which we preach to you, let him be a cursed." Evidently Paul thought that there was a teaching abroad in the Galatian

churches that was so deadly to people and so dishonoring to God that it brought down a divine curse on those

who taught it and those who embraced it. It was a teaching propagated not by secular humanists out of Athens.

It was a teaching propagated by Jewish Christians out of Jerusalem.
