The summer months are often a time when families travel together, perhaps vacation, a family reunion, or just a quick trip to Grandma's house.

These road trips can either be miserable or days when wonderful memories are made.

What a picture of all of life.

We are just passing through this world and families must learn how to enjoy the Lord and one

another as we make the journey together. We are taking a summer road trip through the Book of

Philippians, the book of Christian joy, and discovering principles to help

our homes. Let's join Scott Pauley now for today's study.

It was Bans Habner that said, when Jesus is all you have, you find out that Jesus is all you need.

Amen to that. We're in Philippians chapter 3,

learning that Christ is at the heart of the Christian home, that if you really want to have a Christian home, it's really all about the Lord Jesus being in his rightful place. We've learned

already that our joy must be in Christ, that our confidence must be in Christ, that our

pursuit must be Christ. And then we've come today to the final section of Philippians 3,

and we're learning today that our hope must be in Christ. Look, you want a bright future?

The bright future is in Jesus. He is my future. He's my eternity.

Let's pick up where we left off. Verse 14, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

That sounds a lot like there's more to come, doesn't it? And there is more to come. By the way, I must point this out to you.

This is fascinating to me. In verse 11 and verse 12, he said that he knew he had not yet attained. In other words,

he's not yet arrived in life. And none of us have arrived. We're all growing. We're all learning.

We're all maturing. At least we should be. And he says this, he said, I've not yet apprehended.

Literally, the word there means to pull something down, like to grab a hold of it and

pull it down, to capture it.

One vivid word picture here may help us to understand it a little bit.
