For those of you that regularly visit Pro Football Talk.com or watch this show, this really isn't news.

You've known about this. We've talked about it, but the NFL officially announced it yesterday.

So it became, hey, look at this for most in the media, even though it's been out there for a while.

The Steelers and the Browns made proposals.

The Brown's proposal is to expand the number of years that draft picks can be traded from three to five.

And I'm in favor of that.

I don't like putting restrictions.

If somebody wants to go 10 years out, let them.

Let them do it. It's their call.

I'm all in favor of free markets. I don't think there should be a trade deadline.

If somebody wants to do a deal, at any point, until the team's season is over, that team's

roster should not be locked and they should be able to trade players. Like, if two teams want to do an arm's-length deal, there's no reason not to do it. This isn't like a fantasy football trade where the dad's trying to help out the sun by slipping him a starting quarterback. Do it. If you want to make a trade, do it. But you're saying make a trade, what? Like any time during the year?

Is that what you're saying there, right there?

Yeah, I'm stretching the example to prove the point. Extended from three to five years out, who cares? If the teams want to do it, why is there a limit? If you want to go 10 years, if you want to go 50 years, if the teams want to do it, who cares? Yeah, I don't really know what the negative consequences are either.

The one thing I, you know, I always kind of thought was like, well, yeah, you know, teams and the NFL are worried about, hey, we traded, you know, picks five years down the road, and now it's a whole new regime. And they're like, oh, gosh, I can't believe that. But that doesn't matter anymore with how quickly coaches get fired and rehired.

It's like next year you could be how quickly coaches get fired and rehired.

It's like next year you could be, you know, fired and then you're stuck with a trade that

happened and you're a new regime and it happened two years later.

So I don't see the negative thing there either.

So yeah, give some teams some more flexibility there in years and how they want to orchestrate

their future with picks and what they
