I really think this comes down to something super fundamental about us as humans.

We're the only species that can live in the Amazon and the Arctic.

And the reason we can do that is we can acclimate to anything.

It's the superpower of our species.

Put us wherever and we will acclimate.

People acclimate to famine and to war.

Part of our job in the discourse is to resist that normalization.
