Hello and welcome to another CollectingCars podcast I've done for a while but it's a special

treat for you all.

We have with us Robert Reed, co-driver to the late Richard Burns.

Yes, there's a connection here because we do have a stunning Subaru that is to

crude, to victory in the 2000 Rally GB. So that's the hook in.

Robert is a world champion co-driver. There aren't many of those in the UK.

So Robert, welcome to you. First of all, tell us about your memories of this car because the way

in which it was purchased, I think, is odd. Yeah, thanks Chris and hello everyone. Yeah, it was

a bit weird because I can't remember if we were told before the event or maybe on the last

day of the event that the car had been bought by somebody. And that in itself wouldn't be unusual

because Xbox cars did get bought and you know, whatever. But the weird thing this time was that

we were to leave everything in the car. So the mobile phone, you know, Richard's gloves,

the headsets, but they wanted the paperwork, they wanted roadbooks, pace notes, everything

basically as the car finished the last stage of the event. So as we went over the finish ramp,

having won the rally, picked a trophy's up and back to the hotel, the car went onto a trailer and

was driven off to its new owner. Do you think it's a bit mission impossible, isn't it? It's a bit

leave all your belongings here. This message was self-destructing. But I totally see the appeal now.

I really do. Let's talk through that event then. So 2000 and we've got this new car, which I think

I hope people will agree is for me the best looking Subaru rally car. It's got that wide body

22B road car, arches, the short wheelbase, it's a two door, just stunning looking machine. And
