What's up, what's up? Incredible, loved, and valued people. I am so thankful for your life.

My name is MMA McDaniel. And guys, what a joy, what an honor that I will never get over to welcome you to the compelled podcast. Guys, if you have not

0:23.3

been tuning in, this episode is part three of a four-part series on choosing praise. So if you have

0:30.9

not, I encourage you to go listen to parts one and two. Or part one, we talked about how God's

0:36.2

character, who he is ought to be what compels our

0:40.0

praise, rather than our feelings and our circumstances compelling whether or not we're going to

0:45.5

praise him. And then last week, we talked about how our memory compels praise. When we pull up

how he historically in our life and in all of time has kept his promises, has been trustworthy,

1:05.3

has proven himself to be worthy of praise.

1:08.3

When we remember who he is, when we recall what he has done, we are

1:12.4

compelled in our current space to praise him. And this week, guys, I'm stoked because we are in

1:19.4

1st Peter chapter 1. And as we open up the word, I just can't help but reflect on the fact that

1:25.3

we in the last couple of weeks have been in the Psalms

1:28.6

reflecting on how it is that we can praise the Lord no matter what. And those Psalms, they held

1:36.5

different circumstances. The writers were in different situations. For example, in Psalm 63, David

1:42.0

was in the wilderness, and yet he's talking about how he longs to be with God

1:45.9

and how he thinks on the Lord in the night. And then here, as we're about to read in First Peter,

1:52.1

we're reading a letter that Peter is writing to the Gentiles who are suffering because they love

1:58.1

Jesus. And so I can't help but dwell on and I will never get over

2:03.3

the fact that we're reading about people who are in circumstances that aren't the most fun.

2:09.5

They're in the wilderness. They're suffering because of their faith. And that's not to say that
