Thanks for joining us for another daily encouragement from our daily bread. Today's reading titled

0:11.3

Choosing Celebration was written by Monica LaRose. Writer Marilyn McIntyre shares the story of

0:18.9

learning from a friend that the opposite of envy is celebration.

0:23.8

Despite this friend's physical disability and chronic pain, which limited her ability to develop

0:29.4

her talents in the ways she'd hoped, she was somehow able to uniquely embody joy and to celebrate

0:35.6

with others, bringing appreciation into every encounter

0:40.0

before she passed away. That insight, the opposite of Envi's celebration, lingers with me,

1:39.4

1:48.1

We're called out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1:57.4

Today's Our Daily Bread devotional scripture reading is from 1 Peter chapter 2, verses 1 through 3 and verses 9 through 10.

2:06.8

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

2:14.9

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk so that by it you may grow up in your

2:21.3

salvation now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. And now picking up at verse 9. But you are

2:30.2

a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession,

2:37.8

that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
