Hey, what's up, everybody? I'm Mike, and we have been diving into an incredible mini-series together.

It's the real story that comes from the pages of the Old Testament

section of the Bible and man. It is full of intrigue and twist and turns and villains and heroes.

It's the story of a young Jewish orphan named Esther, who has been named Queen to the Persian Empire by a hugely self-centered king named Xerxes.

And we hit pause yesterday right after we

were introduced to this very evil dude named Haman, Xerxes right-hand man, who doesn't like this

really, really good Jewish man named Mordecai, who just happens to be Esther's adoptive father.

So in the overreaction of overreactions in the history of the

world, he hatches a plan to wipe out all the Jewish people living in the Persian Empire,

and he lies to the king to get him to sign off on it, and an edict is sent throughout the land

announcing that the Jewish people have 11 months to prepare for their demise.

When Mordecai sends a message to Esther telling her that she needs to step up and speak to the king about this, Esther tells him it's not that easy to go to the king uninvited as a capital

offense. This is asking too much of her. And Mordecai sends back this now famous response.

Don't think for a moment that because you're

in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this,

deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives

will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?
