0:09.8	in the history of humanity, and that is humanity learned how to make machines think.
0:18.0	To turn chips or computers, not into just calculators, but into thinkers, from chips to cognition.
0:29.0	And this is a big deal because that means chips and compute is about to become one of the most valuable commodities in the world.
0:36.0	Actually, it will likely become the most valuable commodity in the world.
0:42.0	And it's a commodity unlike any other commodity because it is
0:46.7	intelligence and so no matter how much of it you have well intelligence can figure out
0:51.6	how to use more intelligence there There is no upper bound.
0:56.2	And I cannot overstate how much the U.S. company, NVIDIA, dominates the chip race and how heavily the whole world relies on it.
1:06.0	It controls 80% of the entire GPU market,
1:10.0	but then all of those chips are made by a Taiwanese company called T-S-M-C.
1:16.3	Now, other companies are coming for it, or at least trying.
1:20.0	Intel is racing to launch a new AI chip this year.
1:23.6	Meta is planning on using their own custom chips,
1:26.9	as is Google, as is Amazon.
1:29.9	And meanwhile, the US is racing to onshore
1:32.2	the manufacturing of its own chips.
1:34.1	We don't want to be dependent on other nations, especially ones that are so physically close
1:39.4	to China.
1:40.6	The Biden administration just committed up to $8.5 billion under the Chips and Science Act
1:47.0	so that Intel can build its own brand new chipmaking centers across the U.S.
