Welcome into a brand new episode of the Gaming the Hot Sauce Podcast. We've got a special guest coming up in just a little bit. He's Chip Schaefer. He's the Bulls Director Athletic Performance. He was the head trainer during the Dynasty years, a good friend of Stacey and myself, and it's going to be Greg checking out with Chip. I'm sure he's got stories to tell.

He's got so much he's going to tell us, but he's got some, he's got some things buried somewhere, right?

I'm going to tell you something. This guy's probably got more stories than I do because he's been on two championship organizations, the Lakers too.

So he knows stories and things that gone on in the Lakers organization with Kobe, you know, the comparison to Michael and Kobe, it'll be interesting to hear his take on that.

And speaking to the Lakers, if you checked out our episode last week, we had on Jeff Pearlman, who was the best selling author, who was sort of a number of fantastic books, including Showtime,

which is about the 80s Lakers Dynasty. And that was turned into a TV show called Winning Time, two seasons on HBO Max.

And the news came down Sunday night that HBO decided they're not going to renew it for a third season, which is devastating.

We had Jeff on last week, go back and check out the episode to tell some great stories about the inner workings of the show and some of the actors.

And Jeff was doing a one man crusade to try to keep it going, but the reality of it is right now there's so many streaming services.

There's a writer strike going on. The show was expensive to produce and unfortunately HBO decided not to continue and we're bummed about that.

Yeah, it's terrible because I mean, that was a very good error in basketball and it kind of changed the way the NBA is operated.

They became a business instead of an organization that was pretty much known for drug use fights and everything.

They completely changed the image of the NBA when magic came into the league and Larry Bird came to the league.

Yeah, Dr. Jay and that infusion of ABA talent came in really, really, you know, made the league profitable.

And then the rest is history because then MJ comes in and it's a totally different level when he takes it to a different level.

But the thing I liked about it was is that, you know, I was a young, you know, I was young back in those days watching those games and back.

When I was watching it, Mark, you only saw the Lakers and the Celtics on TV every week.

Right.

You know, and it used to be taped to late. They would tape it.

Yeah.
