on its factory activity today, reporting it increased slightly in June, driven mostly by exports

and demand tied to artificial intelligence. For more on this, I'm joined by Priyanka Kishore, founder and

principal economist at Asia Decoded, an independent macro consultancy firm. She joins me from

numbers tell us about how China's economy is doing? So this is the PMI data and it showed an improvement in June over

May led by a new export orders. That is optimistic, but I don't think overall it actually

impacts the Q2 outlook to a significant degree, continue to expect a slowdown in Q2 GDP growth from Q1 given the

plunge in investments and the slowdown in fiscal spending from the government.

Why would there be a slowdown for folks who aren't familiar with sort of what's going on

there? In the second quarter, what we have seen is actually not the available of funds,

but it's the

drawdown of funds by local governments that has slowed down, which probably has resulted in

some of the decline in the infrastructure spending that we have seen.
