There are some crimes so heinous they have inspired others to kill in a similar way.

On August 26, 2016, a man was apprehended, almost by accident, for a decades-long killing spree that left women in China fearful for their lives.

Murders that were inspired by one of the most infamous murders in true crime history.

In May of 1988, citizens of Bai Yin China, a prefecture-level city of the Gansu province, were shocked to pick up their newspapers and read that the body of a 23-year-old woman was found riddled with 26 stab wounds.

And as time passed, that shock turned into pure horror and absolute fear when that woman simply became the first in what would be at least 11 other attacks.

Nine in the Bay Inn area and two in Batteau.

All of the women, though the youngest was eight and could hardly be referred to as a woman,

were all dressed in red, raped, sometimes both pre and post-mortem,

and stabbed to death before suffering the removal of their reproductive organs.
