Janette was a gospel worker in China. She remembers the day her husband was taken into police custody.

Her phone and computer had been confiscated, but she needed to send an urgent call for help.

I didn't want to venture out too far because I wasn't sure if the police would return and

walked out of our complex and was just looking for a shop that didn't have a lot of security cameras

and I found one. So I'd wound up just asking the clerk there. He was about an 18-year-old boy,

could I borrow his cell phone and download Skype and make an international call with my own account.

Finally, after several times of trying to get through, I was able to make a phone call and

let our risk manager know what had happened and to these secure our devices.

Jesus never promised his followers an easy path. In fact, he told his disciples that the world

would hate them. He sent them out as sheep among wolves. Jesus' words came true in the life of

the apostles, and they're still coming true today in the lives of his followers around the world.

Last week, we heard part one of my conversation with a couple who shared the gospel in China

up until 2020. For their security, we're just calling them Richard and Jeanette.

We recorded this interview on the road, so the sound quality isn't as good as you're probably

used to when we're here in the studio, but their story is so powerful. Last week, as we left off,

Richard was telling us about the day in 2020 when the Chinese national police arrived at their

apartment door. Open door boom, 25 police come bust, they come raiding in and cameras,

their video and everything kind of see. When these this level of crew walks in your door,

it's over. So basically at that point, we're leaving China. Yeah. As we begin part two this week,

Jeanette recalls her experience of that day. Yeah, I was out with my daughter and I walk in.
