Summary

For Christians in China, persecution is just “part of the package” for those who follow Christ. Dory, part of VOM’s newsletter staff, just returned from China, where she met Christians who face arrest and imprisonment for following Jesus Christ. In fact, one of her meetings with a pastor had to be cancelled because the pastor was arrested before she could meet him. Dory found Christians who are not surprised by suffering, and in fact prepare to face it. She’ll share about her visit to China and tell the stories of the bold believers she met there, and about tracing part of her own family heritage to a martyrs’ graveyard in China.

0:00.0	Over the last decade, China's economy has been growing and the incomes of many Chinese people

0:07.8	Recently a Christian worker named Dory talked with several Chinese believers who've experienced greater economic freedom.
0:15.7	They all said, pray for us because basically we're getting distracted by our own wealth.
0:21.0	And I'm sitting there thinking, you know, look at the American church, you know, we've already gone through that, we've passed that, we're there.
0:26.3	And I, you know, they look at us and they know that and they don't want, they want to retain all the lessons they've learned through the years of hardship and they don't want to be mediocre Christians.
0:35.0	They want to be faithful, firm, triumphant overcoming Christians and not get distracted by wealth.
0:41.0	Almost, I think everyone we talked to mentioned that.
0:46.0	Jesus never promised his followers an easy path. In fact, he told his disciples that
0:51.0	the world would hate them. He sent them out as sheep among wolves. Jesus's
0:56.1	words came true in the life of the Apostles and they're still coming true today
