The US has slapped more tariffs on dozens of adversaries and allies, and China is hitting straight back.

Beijing is now subject to a minimum 104% duty on goods coming into America,

and today it's announced that it's adding an 84% tariff on

imports of U.S. goods into China. We asked CNN's Mark Stewart for the details from Beijing.

Hey, Joe, the announcement came during the dinner hour here in Beijing, about two and a half hours

before the market open in New York, China has been defined.

It said it was going to fight back to the end and that it has the economic strength to fight the storm.

As far as a meeting between the U.S. and China, that lingering question.

On Tuesday, Beijing felt the U.S. wasn't showing a genuine willingness for having meaningful dialogue.

Other U.S. trading partners now face tariffs of up to 50%.
