developments in the east shape the global landscape. We'll start with BYD and one of their

new vehicle carriers unloaded about 5,800 BYD electric cars in Buenos Aires province, in what local

coverage calls Argentina's biggest single landing of EVs. The Changzhou is one of their next-gen

car carriers. It's 200 metres long with the capacity for up to 7,000 vehicles, bringing them in from China.

The docking comes in the middle of a political fight over President having a Malay's

market-opening push and how far incentives should go for EVs.

Economy Minister Luis Caputo has stoked the argument, opposition figures, such as Miguel Angelo Piquetto,

now ask what mass imports on this scale mean for the locals.

Argentina is putting in place an import framework for EVs, built around quotas and rules.

The scheme includes price caps that vary by power train, a structure meant to shape which

models qualify for favourable treatment. BYD presents it not as politics, but simple logistics. The firm

hails it as a milestone in its shipping operations and a step change in its expansion plan for

Argentina. Stephen Deng, BYD's country manager, says the group's shipping capacity,

lets it operate at scale, improve efficiency and cut emissions,

even as it adds dealerships and broadens the local model mix.
