Good news, actual good news. News that is a source of optimism.

Not something we're accustomed to talking about, I'll be honest with you,

in the often dystopian hellscape that we have become all too accustomed to.

democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende in a western-backed coup d'état,

which killed thousands of people. Henry Kissinger, the US president's

Nixon Secretary of State, had declared, I don't see why we need to stand by and watch a

country go communist because of the irresponsibility of its own people.

Now, in that CIA backed, blood by thousands were killed and hundreds of

thousands were forced to leave the country. Amongst those refugees were

Chilean refugees taken by my own family in the 1970s in South Yorkshire.

One of those refugees, a woman, took her whole life.

This was a huge trauma for the Chilean people, which has endured its consequences

for half a century. Now, this weekend, the Chilean people have decisively voted
