Good evening.

As Ukraine continues to prepare and waste to launch a counteroffensive, today Russia

launched more missile strikes against civilians, including one of the deadly strikes of the

war this year.

The missiles hit residential buildings in two cities.

Ukrainian officials say at least 23 are confirmed dead, including four children in the city

of Uman.

A missile slammed into that apartment building.

They were sleeping in.

And in Denebro, a mother and her two-year-old child were also reported killed.

Russia routinely denies their targeting civilians, but the list of non-conbadens they've

killed is a long one.

And tonight, as the rubble continues to be cleared, that list is likely to grow.

CNN's team was there in Uman, as some of the dead were found.

Nick Paine Walsh, who was with us last night, joins us for more about today's attacks.

You've been reporting Ukraine for months.

How does today compare what you've seen all throughout this war?

The numbers are always terrifying.

Not the worst we've seen since this war began, certainly.

But after weeks, if not months, of less of missile attacks like this in terms of their

intensity, the numbers today tell a much more intimate horrifying story in Uman where

their peer-to-feel and apartment block.
