Dennis began having nightmares on a regular basis. It got to the point where he was screaming and thrashing around in his sleep.

Caroline began sleeping with the twins in hopes of calming Dennis. This made Domko jealous. One night he

went up to the attic room. The only child who hadn't fled the room was Dennis. Domco

strapped him with his belt until he was spread out on the floor.

David escaped to a church where the twins often sought solace during one of Domko's attacks.

When Dennis arrived at the church, he presented with a hobble.

He had swollen eyes and a bleeding lip.

His chest was soaked with blood, as was his arms.

He checked inside his mouth and winced a little as he poked at a loosened tooth.

Referring to one of the church's windows, David said,

You strong enough to climb in? No.

Okay, we'll sleep here then.

They rested on a stretch of grass for a few moments.
