1:04.1	and about the state's lack of action as it pertains to these issues.
1:09.3	So Jackie and I have been talking about this for a long time,
1:12.9	and she asked me if she could put together a script where we could talk about some of these issues.
1:17.2	And we're going to dive a little bit deeper into this in an upcoming episode
1:20.8	that looks at a case of a young boy who highlights all of the examples that we're going to give you here
1:26.6	about what's wrong with
1:28.6	Children, Youth and Families Division here in New Mexico. For those of you that don't know,
1:33.6	we're going to be referring to them as CYFD. CYFD is our CPS, our child protective services
1:40.2	here in New Mexico. And there are many failures that are happening and have been happening,
1:46.0	not just when Jacob died in 1987, but also carried into the current day, and we're still facing
1:54.0	tremendous issues with child welfare here in New Mexico.
2:00.0	We've seen the images of the children of New Mexico.
2:02.6	10-year-old Victoria Martins, 14-year-old Jeremiah Valencia,
2:06.6	11-year-old Bruce Johnson Jr., 9-month-old Jacob Landin, 3-year-old Leland-Baldez,
2:14.6	in their pictures, they're all flashing, big, toothy grins.
2:19.0	Many of them have prominent dimples.
2:21.2	These children, smiling at the camera, without a care in the world.
