Welcome back in to the arrowhead pride chiefs training camp report. I am Steven Serta day one of full team practice up in St. Joseph, Missouri for the defending Super Bowl champion, Kansas City chiefs, so we've got plenty to catch up on.

I'm plenty of news and notes from today's practice in St. Joseph, Missouri. Let me welcome in the leader of arrowhead pride, Pete Sweeney, but I think the real question on everyone's mind right now, Sweeney, is what did you think of Oppenheimer, not what happened on the chiefs practice field?

0:41.0

You are not agree with me, but I like it, but I think it might be a little over high. I come in with a B plus, a little long for me. It is a little long, but it'll grow on you the next time you go see it, I promise.

It's a fantastic movie. Barbie was also spectacular. I completed the barbenheimer this weekend, so I am fully moved out for the weekend.

1:07.0

So let's get into the chief stock. Obviously, I think where we should start on Sunday, July 23rd is the biggest camp storyline that everyone will be locked into all throughout the entirety of this camp for the Kansas City chiefs.

1:22.0

And that's Chris Jones who we confirmed on Sunday did not report to chiefs training camp on Friday. And due to the nature of the new collective bargaining agreement, he is going to pile up some serious fines until he decides to get to St. Joseph.

1:36.0

Yeah, it's $50,000 a day. So if we keep track of this now, the numbers just going to go up and up and up. And that can get pretty high. If you decide to get north of the four to five, they range started talking about.

1:54.0

I think on the Chris Jones front, this is something that that I expected. And what was a little surprising to me was the nature of Andy Reed's comments. If you're listening on our podcast channel, I know that season would take care of it.

2:11.0

I listen to Andy Reed. Andy, it seems like he was a little bit bothered by holding out of training camp. He admitted that he was surprised. And you could tell in his voice where he's saying, well, we're not here. We're just going to keep on rolling.

2:32.0

I think that it's starting to get to that point, Steve, where you can tell there's a that that amiable nature that it's been this entire time may be starting to dissipate. And that's not a good thing. But as a reminder, this, this, it got a little dicey when Chris Jones was signing a contract a couple of years ago, and then they were able to finally come to a agreement. And so I don't think anything to worry about yet. We're still 145 plus days until the regular season game.

But this may be a more extended situation than we first thought.

3:05.0

I also think that the Kansas State Chiefs as a front office have been a little bit spoiled by players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey.

3:14.0

They're used to these guys just being like, whatever, we'll do whatever the team needs needs us to do to stay competitive and be a championship, championship caliber team and all of that.

3:25.0

And Chris Jones is saying, this is my last big payday. Pay me like I deserve to get paid. And I don't think anybody should stress. I'm not ready to hit the panic button on this thing. If they don't get a long term deal done, then that's a huge problem moving forward.

3:38.0

But I think they are going to come to terms on an agreement. I don't think we should be very stressed out about it right now.

3:44.0

Yeah, and to Chris Jones credit, now I don't know if he's taking the Mahomes and Kelsey discount for the last time he did sign a contract.

3:53.0

He didn't work with the chiefs. I believe what happened was he didn't end up getting a signing bonus with the contract if I'm remembering correctly.

4:00.0

And what the chiefs did to skirt around that was believe Uncle Clark. Clark Conn provided him an advance of his first game paycheck to kind of serve as a signing bonus.

4:11.0

So he's been willing to work with them in the past. We'll see how far he's willing to bend at this time around.

4:16.0

Yeah, again, I'm still pretty confident that they get a long term deal done. And he will be fine in the long run.

4:24.0

He will not be he will not hold it against Chris Jones for wanting to get a bigger payday out of this contract because he absolutely deserves it for the Kansas City Chiefs.

4:32.0

But other notes from Sunday's first full team practice and especially one note that you really don't want to see on day one of veteran practice at training camp is wide receiver cadarious Tony apparently tweaked his knee fielding puns also
