Hey, just a quick bottom line up front before we start in earnest.

We'll cover this again later in the episode, but the number one piece of advice I can impart

onto you within the context of deportation raids is to keep your eyes open.

On your phone, clear storage space so you can record for long periods of time, up to 10 minutes of 1080p footage

if you can.

Film horizontally, that means long ways left to right.

This allows you to get more information on the periphery than you would vertically.

Use both hands to stabilize if necessary.

If you see ICE, CBP, ERO, or some other federal

agent carrying out an arrest, calmly pull out your phone and begin recording from a safe distance,

definitely more than an arm's length away. Do not intervene. Do not get arrested yourself. Instead, record the face of the person

being arrested and call out for their name repeatedly until you can get it on camera. In Spanish,

what's your name is Como Te Amas. Then, time permitting, remind them they have the right to remain silent.

You can yell all of this to someone actively being arrested past the federal agents.

Again, mind your distance and do not intervene. Do not get arrested yourself. Once you've got that,

proceed to film the federal agents. In particular,

film their faces, badges, tattoos, and any other unique identifiers. Then, film the license plates

of their vehicles. When filming, make sure you settle on each subject for a full two seconds so as to get a clear image.

In the state of Illinois, you have the right to film in public without someone's consent.

Check your local laws to make sure, but generally, Americans can film in public.
