I want you to think if you could of Betty, me, my sons, Spiro and Peter and my brother Nick's sons, Spiro and Nika, and his wife, Dina, and my brother Peter's family his wife Georgia his daughters Connie and

Leah and his son speed up. Yeah, we have a tradition and the family and Greek families do this

name the first son after the grandfather,

paternal grandfather.

And all of us, and my mom, Betty,

in the nursing home, listening to this. I hope you understand what it means to us and I hope you enjoy

this for what it is. Not a story of one man, but a story of a family spirit, a story of a family

coming to America, the story of a Palikari, the brave one.

What does Palikari mean?

Palikari, brave a brave man.

But not, and the other hand, you cannot be scary too much, to be scared because you are scared you lose the scent of

of survival you lose the scent what to do, to survive, not to stand up or how you can jump and hide and these

those things, you know.

For you are in too much fear, you forget those things.

Yeah, I said.

Well, people got killed because we didn't know what to do. Now you have to be lucky to survive

in the war you know because no matter what you know, or the artillery

comes and breaks about 50 yards away from you had you know you get down you're not

by the car anymore you know you get down you say now survival. To survive in the war, you have to shoot your enemy. That's the way they teach us. Otherwise if you don't shoot and put your

head down they're going to take you anyway. Or somebody going to shoot you there or you're going back prisoner you never know if you could come back.
