Hello, and welcome to the show. This is our travelogue from our recent field trip to Chicago.

This is the first time we've been to the Windy City, at least as a group, both Susan and I have personal histories

there. She, of course, was a young married woman in her time of her life, out and about. And I was a

small child and then a teenager going to see my city grandma and grandpa every year.

And then in the holiday season, we would go have Thanksgiving at the Palmer House.

Love that. And you know what I loved about this just on a personal level is that you and I could kind of share our experience, our histories there.

We'll get into it, I think, a little bit later. You took me to some of the places that you used to go as a child, and I dragged you down to 310 South Michigan where my husband used to work. And every time we passed a place, we're like, oh, this happened there. And I don't know, it's just fun to share it with you. And it's also fun to share it with the friends that came along with us, 50 of them on the actual

tour, and then an additional 38 friends that came to join us on the dinner cruise.

thank them for calling in and giving us their remembrances. So the first thing we do ahead of time is

go out and source whatever city we're in. We try to source snacks from each location. And we really

hit the jackpot with this one. First of all, we stayed at the Palmer House Hotel. And a listener will

tell you a little bit more about that later. And if you've heard our Bertha Palmer episode,

you know more than 99.9% of the world about the Palmer House

Hotel. But one thing they do well is make a brownie as Bertha Palmer was the originator

of the brownie. So everybody got an original Palmer House brownie. And then we found a woman-owned potato chip place that

makes Chicago-flavored potato chips. Jardinare, Chicago dog, deep dish pizza, Italian beef.

I had the Chicago dog, and I was a little hesitant. But I thought it was tasty. And what was
