The construction of motherhood in the United States has always been conservative. The way we've

sold and marketed and policed motherhood, it's always prioritized a white upper class

woman who doesn't work, who can completely devote herself to husband, children, and domesticity.

So I think that's the model that so many of us have been fed for so long that even if we see a mother

who might be the most progressive mother in the world, if she's presenting as super nurturing,

super soft, super feminine, super domestic, she might
