the number of weekly readers they claim to advertisers. It seems that stressed out consumers are

not looking for consolation in photos of Hollywood bikinis and Botox, rhinoplasty, and rehab. Conventional

wisdom holds that unlike paper, celluloid is recession-proof.

But is it really?

Last week, Viacom announced it will slash 850 jobs, or about 7% of its workforce,

as well as suspend salary increases for senior management as part of a restructuring plan.
