Stephanie Strange, welcome to the show. How you doing? Good, I'm so excited to be here. I just absolutely love your work and I know we're going to have a really fun conversation today. I am so excited. You have your own podcast getting strange with Stephanie Strange and I think

your tagline right is like exploring the weird the pop culture the funky and every episode

title too I've listened to a couple episodes today and then I was like you have one about aliens and horses being connected taking back the word brouhaha like astrology superficial topics what are someone like the favorite you know topics that you've

covered because every single episode I was bookmarking it oh thank you oh gosh I really

feel like the most recent one that I really enjoyed was debunking witchcraft in pop culture because it touches a lot on how people get into witchcraft or they feel like they know witchcraft and then they watch

you know Sabrina the teenage witch and they're like that's me I'm a witch I'm gonna now

practice witchcraft I'm the chosen one and yeah and I'm like no that's not how it works. Well I feel like there's so many different types of and I'm so

excited because one of the things we're going to talk about is this notion of like the

evil eye and how it affects celebrities and what it means and I feel like every

culture kind of has their own idea of like spirituality or woo-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-niss, right?

Like I remember growing up in Ireland we would have like Irish like little fairy circles to look out for but then over in Greece you have the evil eye then in Italy you have a different version of that then you tea readings, like there's just so many

different ways to kind of express this cool spirituality and I do find it

interesting. I always just think if every single culture has done it since the beginning of time I think

that there's something to it so what kind of is like a big misconception about

witchcraft that is wrong? I think everybody has a little bit of witchcraft in them and I did a video on New Year's Eve saying that if you do these Latino traditions you are doing witchcraft and what I mean by that is we all have superstitious beliefs.

We all come from a family that does something that is rooted in superstition, lore, and magic.

And everybody, if you are somebody that comes from pagan roots or if you are

indigenous or you're from the east doesn't matter where you're from your

culture has some form of witchcraft quote unquote and I say witchcraft because that terminology was definitely which Christianity and assimilating to things. And so I think that a lot of people who do practice these things,

like they're taking back that term to empower themselves.

And it's not necessarily a bad word.
