I would almost say it's the only way I can I can tell the story if I if I really

immer myself in it and always there's always limitations of course in in how long I can go to a place but when I'm there I always try to really get to know the people and

Because I have this responsibility to tell their story.

I feel this responsibility to try to tell their story

in the most profound and honest way I can.

That was documentary photographer Yahun Toikens.

Yahun is a documentary photographer based out of the Hague in the Netherlands.

He mainly works on long-term projects that can take years to complete.

His most recent project, Boryallis, took six years to complete.

It's a book that documents the Boryal Forest and the people who live in it.

To accurately tell the story of the Boryal Forest, which is the largest land-based vegetation zone,

and makes up around 29% of the total forested area on Earth.

He and his co-author immersed themselves in the culture and in the environment.

In pursuing a project, Yahun feels that it's his responsibility to tell a story in the most accurate way he can.

This involves patience and experience and letting the story tell itself, rather than molding it into a narrative of your own.

So here he is.
