Just one of several child beauty contests at which she won titles.

As Colorado-based investigative journalist Paula Woodward explains, for the Ramsey family,

pageants were a central part of their everyday lives.

Her mother and her aunt had been in beauty pageants, and John Binai found out about beauty pageants and she wanted to be in them.

It was something that the family discussed and they decided to do it.
