0:20.6	Hello friends and welcome to Chapter 29 of the Dead Authors Podcast.
0:28.5	I remain your host, H.G. Wells, and round this time of, I like to say that the
0:33.1	H.G stands for holiday greetings. It doesn't, of course, that'd be
0:37.6	damned silly. But around this time of year, I like to say that it does
0:41.1	and who's going to stop me?
0:43.0	You? I'd like to see you tried, you filthy buggars. I'll box your ears for you!
0:48.0	At any rate, holiday greetings to you all.
0:51.0	Being possessed of a scientific mind from a very young age, I never was much
0:55.1	for all the Ballyhoo surrounding Christmas. Toys and elves and reindeer, all that carry on,
1:00.5	a bit daft if you ask me. But all that changed a few December ago when I was
1:04.7	knocking about fourth century Greece and made the acquaintance of a chap called Nicholas and
1:09.1	a delightful fellow he was indeed. Upon learning that I was, shall we say, an out of towner, he insisted on showing me the sights, treating me to meals, gifting me with souvenirs, you name it.
1:21.0	His generosity was most astounding. The entire trip left me with a warm
1:25.6	in a glow and a feeling of goodwill toward men that I felt simply had to be
1:29.8	shared. So I let him in on my little secret and together we piloted the time machine all over the world in the course of a single evening
1:37.6	with Nicholas leaving behind presents for all the good little girls and boys.
1:41.6	It was a lark, a good bit of fun but nothing I felt like
1:45.0	doing more than once. Nicholas on the other hand went absolutely bananas for it and so a tradition was born.
1:52.2	And now every year on Christmas Eve, I meet up with old Nick,
1:55.9	hand over the keys to the time machine and let him do his thing.
