Summary

Chapter 23.1

Beloved’s 2003 debut, "Failure On," is a legendary album in the Solid State Records catalog. They had so much in their favor: made a flawless debut record, had an incredibly promising trajectory, had all been friends since childhood, and described themselves as family, were respected in the scene that was exploding and supportive, and were a priority to the best record label in the Christian heavy music space in the middle of its most powerful moment.

Dusty Redmond gives his point of view as to how after just a few tours, and amid the anticipation of the entire scene for their follow up record, the Beloved train was derailed. Since then, Beloved has existed in conversations in greenrooms, tour busses, and record industry people as a “what if” band. There were occasionally feint rumors of possible reunions, but alas, after nearly 15 years, most people have given up hope.

You would think that it would take something extraordinary to stop the incredible momentum that Beloved had in 2004, but some things can be both powerful and fragile at the same time.

0:55.0	reunion. And I still have enough unanswered questions that I thought you'd share that it would
0:59.2	make a great episode. So I began to make an episode with Dusty, and after doing so, it was
1:04.3	apparent that even he didn't possess all the answers to the beloved questions that I have,
1:09.4	and it was clear that I needed to talk to their singer Josh to get the answers I was looking for. So we're lucky enough to have Josh and Dusty,
1:15.5	so I figured they both needed their own episodes so that you get to know each one of them
1:19.1	and understand their points of view. So have fun with this double episode and special note.
1:24.1	I did not talk to Joe Muston, who everybody knows is the heart of beloved for this
1:28.6	double episode, but certainly Joe is a legend in himself, and he deserves his own episode
