Now emotional maturity sounds great, right?

Well what actually is emotional maturity?

Emotional maturity is the ability to regulate one's emotions.

It allows for flexible thinking, open communication and resilience in stressful situations.

Emotional maturity allows us to tolerate all of the emotions that human life comes with

and to cope with them adaptively as opposed to lashing out, screaming, storming around

or shutting down as many of us do.

Emotional maturity includes the ability to authentically express ourselves and to cultivate

peace when we are misunderstood.

It is the ability to create and hold space for others authentic self-expression as well.

Now while emotional maturity can be found in what Nicole just described on the contrast

we have emotional immaturity which as you may have guessed is the opposite of emotional
