So one of the hardest things here at Rolling Stone,

especially in an ever more culturally fragmented era, is finding genuinely unifying

new superstars to put on the cover.

But one of the most pleasant surprises of this year is how Chapel Roan, who's been bubbling under for a few years now,

has suddenly become one of the most blazing pop supernovas we've seen in a long time.

And her songs are easily good enough to deserve it.

Recently she's gotten attention for stuff outside of music,

political statements, cancelling shows,

setting firm boundaries with her fans,

but that's trivial compared to how much fun her music and performances are.
