Today is such a great day to be here in church.

We're gonna kick off a brand new message series called At the Movies.

0:16.0

Now, you might be asking yourself, why do a message series on movies?

0:20.0

That's a great question. Well, movies are the

0:22.4

story of our day. You know, Jesus himself was a master storyteller, constantly telling stories.

0:29.4

And he would integrate those stories into his teaching and then use them to point us back to God,

but he's seen as a loose cannon and very unpredictable. So as the movie opens, we see him working with a team on a

1:29.2

secret test flight with the goal of reaching Mach 10, which is 10 times the speed of sound. But when he

1:36.3

learns that the Navy wants to shut down the program for another one, Maverick is determined to save

1:42.6

what he thinks is the future of the Navy

1:45.0

and also to prove that he still got it.

1:47.5

Despite disobeying orders and failing his test flight,

1:50.7

Maverick ends up getting called back to the Top Gun training program to teach younger pilots.
