| 0:05.0 | One afternoon in September 2020, police in the city of Yonkers, New York were in a car chase. |
| 0:12.0 | A black man who they had pulled over, they say, for some traffic violations, |
| 0:17.0 | had sped away when they walked up to his car. |
| 0:21.0 | So the cops are chasing this man, and eventually he stops the car again, gets out, and starts running. |
| 0:30.0 | All this is happening in a place called Getty Square. |
| 0:33.0 | It's in downtown Yonkers. |
| 0:35.0 | We should say Yonkers is right outside of New York City. |
| 0:38.0 | Getty Square, there's the furniture store, a Dunkin' Donuts, Mexican restaurants, pharmacies, |
| 0:43.0 | and a lot of buses stop here, so it's busy. |
| 0:46.0 | There are moms and little kids, older kids after school. |
| 0:50.0 | And just to be clear, all of this is happening only a few months after a police officer in Minneapolis killed George Floyd. |
| 1:00.0 | And what you're hearing is a video that was taken by someone who was sitting in his car in Getty Square watching what was happening. |
| 1:08.0 | You can see the man who cops tried to pull over, run into the square with a gun. |
| 1:14.0 | A uniform cop comes up behind him and tackles him to the ground, and then the man starts firing. |
| 1:24.0 | Uniformed and plain clothes cops pile on top of him. |
| 1:27.0 | They cuff him, and they do not shoot. |
| 1:31.0 | This, of course, is what people want to happen. |
| 1:44.0 | The police don't shoot. |
| 1:46.0 | And Yonkers, this is the story the police want to tell, especially after George Floyd. |
| 1:51.0 | Look at us. |
| 1:52.0 | Our cops are doing a good job. |
