Welcome to the danger zone. Yes, I am at Abu Dhabi's airport, which is on the no-go list from the foreign office.

The FCDO advises against all non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates.

And no, it is not going to make an exception for people changing planes,

either here at Abu Dhabi or down the road at the much bigger Dubai International Airport.

Where does this leave you as a traveller then? Well, probably better off. I've paid

just under £600 for a one-way flight from Jakarta via Abu Dhabi to London. The closest

alternative flight not going through somewhere in the Gulf that the Foreign Office warns

against going to was about three times as much. And I've been speaking to many British people

who have been happy to come through Abu Jabi Airport.

What's going to happen is going to happen. Yeah, and say, that's my time, it's my time.

I'm sure I enter into the door, I don't know if you.

Crucially, it means that you are not only going against advice from the Foreign Office,

which presumably they've got very good reasons for saying stay away.

I imagine they are worried about drone and missile strikes on the airport,

or indeed on aircraft, which are flying to and from.

However, as I say, many people are going to be using those flights.

You need to know that your insurance, if it's a standard policy,

is probably not going to be valid while you are here,

because there is always a condition in the policies I've seen at least

where it says if you're travelling against foreign office advice,

you will not be covered. Talking to the crew, who are clearly the people who are living here in

Abu Dhabi and furthermore working here flying to and fro, they seemed very comfortable.
