My guest this week are Gary Crosby and Janine Irons, a power couple in the world of British jazz.

Together they set up tomorrow's warriors and have spent the last 30 years nurturing thousands of musicians

never once charging a penny for their time or expertise.

We get this idea and we're trying to expand on it.

But all the time we're having to entertain

this format that keeps going round,

you're trying to find where you can stretch it,

expand it a bit, make it prettier, make it slower.

It's genius how they do it.

Because they're improvising all the time.

It's all in the moment.

You know, it's all in the moment.

You know, when it works, it's, as Mars David said,

it's the best thing you've ever done with your clothes on.

In some circles, Gary is known as the Godfather of British Jazz.

And what made this double bassist and band leader take time away from his own career

to mentor the artists of the future?
