Here we go. The beginning of

love is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves. The resolution then not to twist

them to fit our image of perfect. Well, that's good. Well, to celebrate Whirl Down Syndrome Day, which is today, I wanted to share a story

of a family who received a diagnosis they did not desire. And then ultimately, a gift far greater

than they could have fathomed. Life for this family was going perfectly, perfectly well.

Amy and Ben Wright enjoyed work that provided meaning, an adopted city that they loved, and two healthy children that they absolutely adored.

As good as things were, their joy expanded with the birth of their new little boy, a little guy named Bo.

Life was perfect.

Until it wasn't.

Amy remembers the phone call that changed everything.

In the first few months after his birth, Bo just seemed to be progressing a little bit slower than her other children.

After several tests, their pediatrician called to inform the parents

that something was wrong with a child.
